In 1977 fishermen in the North Atlantic were fighting about the rich fishing grounds of Island. The Icelandic coastguard kept away German trawlers with the force of arms because they wanted to prevent them from exploiting the sea close to the coast. The performance “Cod war” was based on the stories of German and Icelandic captains and was put on stage in a net factory in Cuxhaven and in the fish market in Hafnarfjördur/ Iceland.
