Sturmflut

2017/18

December 2016. A flood, caused by a grave storm, raged nearby the East Frisian Islands, pulling four containers loaded with timber of a wrecked ship into the sea. They washed up on the shore of Spiekeroog island. The shipping company donated the stranded goods to be the scenery for a documentary-theatre piece about climate change.

Staging STURMFLUT, Das Letzte Kleinod takes up probably the most important subject of the Nort Sea coast. Climatologists predict that substantial parts of the unique landscapes will dissapear with the rising sea level. The theatre asks about the relation of the coastal inhabitants to the raging force of nature, investigates reports, historical anecdotes and new perspectives.

STURMFLUT is based on these investigations and performes during the stormy season in the winter of 2017/18. The premiere takes place on November 11, 2017 on the Northcoast island Spiekeroog and continues the tour with it’s Oceanblue Train on stations in Bremervörde, Bremerhaven, Bad Bederkesa and Geestenseth.
