Documentary theatre about the escape from Vietnam
He hugged his mother one last time. The children were given sleeping pills to calm them down. At night, they waded through the mangrove forest to the coast. Then the family got on an overcrowded fishing boat to escape across the South China Sea. This journey through the snowy winter of 1979 finally led them to their new home in Northern Germany.
Director Jens-Erwin Siemssen interviewed Vietnamese Boat People and staged their memories in unusual locations on the water.
