Workshop documentary theatre at Goethe-Institut Alexandria
They come from Sudan, Eritrea and Syria. Hundreds of thousands stream to the Egyptian Mediterranean coast and wait there for a possibility to flee to Europe. But the crossing on the dreadful fishing boats costs at least three thousand dollars. Too much for people who have lost their belongings on the long journey to the coast.
Director Jens-Erwin Siemssen works currently at a workshop documentary theatre at the Goethe-Institut Alexandria/Egypt. The ten participants interviewed refugees in town and developed a play OVERSEAS, which will be presented next Saturday with a workshop performance at the Deutsche Seefahrtsmission.
